Blogpoisson

Here's the big news, the rebirth of blogfish is here.

Blogfish has moved to Switzerland, land of fondue and trains that run on time. Blogpoisson will continue as a personal blog, but drawing from my experiences as a person traveling the globe to work on sustainable seafood. How is this possible? Thanks to the good graces of the fine creature top right.

Blogfish lives, and swims in some new waters. Vive le Blogpoisson!

Just for fun, here's a photo of the Blogpoisson boos playing in the snow of St. Cergue in the Jura mountains with "Uncle Renaud" and Nelson of the fabulous Smith family that has adopted us as new found relatives. Oh, and the view of Mt. Blanc from our balcony, life is rough en Suisse.

Wondering if you saw the material at the Summit on the Marine Stewardship Council certifying British Columbia sockeye salmon? (announcement most likely next week).

Unfortunately, it's a complete sham along with several of the other MSC "ecocertified" fisheries.

I noticed you had an earlier post regarding the situation on the Yukon River in Alaska. A few weeks ago U.S. Commerce Secretary announced a "fishery disaster" on the Yukon.

This despite that fishery being MSC certified in the Alaskan salmon scheme. Plus the fact that the Bering sea pollock fishery (MSC certified) catches over 60,000 Chinook salmon annually as bycatch. That's more than the actual Yukon River fishery catches.

Not to mention the other 700,000+ other salmon that the pollock fishery captures as bycatch and throws overboard.

Or the MSC-certified Pacific hake fishery that catches tens of thousands of salmon from endangered California and Oregon streams.

keep up the posts. check out www.salmonguy.org if you get a chance. A British Columbia, Canada-based website.
