Seabirds dying off Florida

Seabirds are dying off Florida. The cause is unknown, but this is eerily similar to mass seabird deaths that have been seen off the US west coast in the last couple of years.

Greater shearwaters are one of the open ocean birds found dead or dying, and this is strange because they're normally always found offshore, rarely seen by people.

We have seen Gannots as well in large numbers on the East coast, and in fewer numbers on the West coast of Florida. Still, the numbers are much higher than usual. They come in emaciated, exhausted; mostly younger birds (1st or 2nd year). Both birds are usually offshore, not near-coastal in this area. Are they not finding the foods they need??
