Things are really bad when people on Martha's Vineyard are trying to start a cod nursery to re-seed local waters with cod. It's a sad day when we can't rely on natural cod reproduction to grow cod in New England. Fishery management has truly failed when people are so desperate for solutions.
I'm glad to see people trying to solve problems with a cod nursery. But I worry that they'll end up doing more harm than good. See the sad history of salmon hatcheries in the northwest for a lesson on how good intentions can go badly wrong.
